Local outreach is part of our mission's strategy at the ZBC because we recognize that there are people right here in the Henderson area who are in need of Love and Care.
The opportunities are great and we would love to help you find a place to serve right here in our own back yard.

Kankoole Kids
In July 2009, Zion Baptist Church's Senior Pastor, Mark Galloway, felt that God was leading Zion to adopt a village somewhere in the world. In January 2010, two members from Zion went on a mission trip to Uganda, Africa with Open Door Ministries out of Texas and Canaan International Outreach. After multiple exchanges with Canaan's Pastor David Musitwa, it became evident to Bro. Mark that God was leading Zion to connect with Canaan International Outreach and adopt the village of Kankoole in Uganda.
Kankoole is located north of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. When Zion first encountered the village is was comprised mostly of "bush & jungle" and families living off the surrounding land as best they could. The average income is less than a dollar a day and they struggled to find food and clean drinking water.
Since 2010 because of the generous support of Zion Baptist Church members, people in the surrounding communities and the help of multiple ministries, a well was dug for clean drinking water, sustainable crops were planted, people in the village educated, a church and schools have been erected, and the quality of life is improving.
In addition to all of the great things happening in the village, a sponsorship program was created for the children of the village so they could go to school and get an education to learn english and learn about the Lord our God.
Sponsorship consists of children receiving:
- Education
- School Uniforms
- Two Meals a Day
- Medical Care
- Christmas & Easter Gifts (Mosquito nets, matresses, kerosene lamps and wash basins.)
For just $28 a month, a child will receive all of the above plus a solid Christian education and help growing in their walk with Christ.
If you cannot sponsor a child, we always need people to write letters to the unsponsored children that we take on each mission trip (1-2 a year.) Above all please pray for this ministry as it continues to grow!
